To be a blessing “For the left hand of the heavenly Spouse is under you head to support the weakness of your body, which you have placed under the law of your soul through an ordered charity" (PrPov 5)( St. Claire). Under 11 and 13 Gampaha district swimming championship was won by Master Dineth Jayakody and he got 3 Gold medals for the three events that he was participated. The championship of the Inter house sport meet of our College was taken by Julian House.

Thought of the day: - Jesus desperately wanted to show people how loved they were. “Oh, Jerusalem, how often I would have gathered you under my wings.” He cried. When he saw a city in spiritual shambles, he literally cried from the anguish. Sometimes the wasted energy, the empty seats of the banquet, and all the pain and loneliness overcame him. Jesus wept. Jesus personally felt other people’s pain. I remember very being very sick one time and a friend is saying “I wish I could absorb your pain so that it would go away and leave you alone.” That is compassion…. and empathy. I too, sometimes look at churches and weep. For once we loose our compassion, we loose our souls when the hearts stops, the whole body dies. Jesus had compassion for the crowds. When have you displayed compassion as a leader?

History:

On 2nd January 1817, Father Marcelline Champagnat, son of a farmer in the hamlet of Rozey close to the town of Marlhes in Loire, France, now Saint Marcelline Champagnat, founded the religious order of the Marist Brothers. A hundred years later, in 1918, four religious Brothers of this congregation came to Negombo, Sri Lanka, and took over the management of St.Mary's College. In 1922, the school moved to its present site and assumed the new name of Maris Stella College, and thus our school was born.

Today, the College stands on an eight acre block of land only a short distance away from the centre of the city of Negombo commonly known as "Little Rome" owing to its large Catholic population and its beautiful churches.
