De Mazenod College grandly celebrates it’s 80th anniversary in 2011. To commemorate the event and also to raise funds for the 2011 swimming pool, already in progress, the Old Boys Association has organized a walk followed by a 3-day carnival.
The Walk takes its move from Nawaloka Grounds,Mahabage at 2.00 p.m, covering a distance of nearly 5km to,the college grounds .
Students from grades 5 to 13 along with the teachers will start the journey while grades 3 and 4 will join them at Aniyakanda Hospital junction Nagoda . Grade 1 and 2, too will join the main flow at Halpe lane junction.
The procession includes western and eastern bands of the college, a vintage car parade organized by ’79 and ’80 batches, a ‘papare band’ and several floats.
Popular artists sports personalities, political icons who are former Mazenodians too will join.
A t-shirt and a cap designed for the event are available for sale at Emma, Kandana. The carnival commences at 9.00p.m and popular bands.

1st of October - Seeduwa Sakura With Rookantha.
2nd of October - Sunflower.
Flanked by many artists will entertain the crowd. Food and beverage stalls, fun and frolic,
Merry-Go-Round, will be in action throughout the 3 evenings.
The Old Boys Association expects a gain of 10 million rupees. Grand homes And Constructions Ltd and Shanthi Stores, Kandana are the main sponsors.
